Shotgun Primer Inserts

Overview

Our LCS Shotgun Primer Inserts allow you to train your dog using a lower cost and more efficient alternative to buying a primer pistol or other blank pistol. Shotgun Primer Inserts can be used in any training activity where you would normally need a shotgun like gun-shy training and simulating a shot for retrievers, giving your dog a more realistic training scenario using your hunting shotgun or a shotgun of your choosing. Professional trainers often use shotguns instead of a blank pistol because it teaches the dog to follow the direction that the gun barrel is pointed. This is great training to prepare a dog for retrieving from a blind or heavy cover. Our specially designed brass inserts are designed to fit perfectly into any breach-loading shotgun and has a CNC machined socket for any standard sized 209-shotgun primer.

How to Use

LCS Shotgun Primer Inserts are designed to be as simple as possible to use. Simply slide the brass inserts into the breach of your shotgun as if a regular shotgun shell. You must use a breach loading shotgun, no pump or semi shotguns! Once the brass insert is loaded into the breach, place your choice of 209 shotgun primer into the primer slot. After the primer is in position close your shotgun. Now your shotgun is loaded and ready to be used as a blank gun. It is important to remember, even though you are only using a primer, there is still going to be hot gases and even flames that exit the barrel, so treat it as if it was a loaded shotgun.

Once fired, open the breach of your gun and remove the spent 209 primer. Then, if you would like to continue training, simply insert another 209 primer. The brass insert will stay in place in the breach. If you are done training, the brass insert is simply removed like a shotgun shell. We recommend cleaning your gun after using 209 primers, the primer leaves behind a good amount of power residue in the barrels. A great and simple product for this is the shotgun BoreSnake.

USING A PUMP ACTION?

The LCS Shotgun Primer Inserts will not work in pump action shotguns, if you wanted to use a blank round in a pump action shotgun, check out the Winchester 12 Gauge Poppers, Fiocchi 12 Gauge Poppers, and Fiocchi 12 Gauge Popper Halls. These 12 gauge blanks will work in both breach loaded and pump action shotguns. Like the Shotguns Primer Inserts, these poppers will not work in semi-automatic shotguns due to not having enough back pressure to work the action.
