Turtleskin Snake Gaiters and Turtleskin Chaps

Reviewed by: Randy Carlson – LCS General Manager have always been one of the those things that I know I should wear when in the field at certain places at times of the year when snakes are present, but somehow it’s one of those things I have procrastinated purchasing.

This came to an abrupt halt last May during spring turkey season when I was literally one step away from walking into the strike zone of a Eastern Timber Rattlesnake that was not very happy I was interrupting his late-morning sun bathing.I have a couple of friend who have been hit by a rattlesnake in the past, and the long-term impact it had to their nervous system was not nice.

I purchased a pair traditional heavy denier snake gaiters last year, and they did the job but where cumbersome and hot.A few weeks ago while early season dove hunting in Nebraska I tried a pair of our new Turtleskin Snake Armor gaiters – what a difference!They are so lightweight and flexible I completely forgot I had them on until I returned to my truck.They utilize an extremely dense, yet flexible, proprietary material that is lightweight and promised to turn back the fangs of the nastiest rattlers.In addition, they work great at turning back briars and moisture from wet grass.The have a full zipper that really makes them easy to put on and take off, and allows them to fit well. The gaiters come in a regular and husky cut, and I found them to run a little small, so if you are undecided, go with the larger size.

I will always be wearing my new Turtleskin Snake Gaiters in warm weather to when visiting snake country in the coming years.
