Introducing the Alpha XL, Alpha 200 Plus, and Instinct 3 Watch

We are excited to announce the launch of two new Alpha devices in the Garmin Alpha family, as well as a new line of Instinct GPS watches. The new Alphas are the Garmin Alpha XL and the Garmin Alpha 200 Plus Handheld. The Garmin Alpha XL is a 10” car-mounted version of an Alpha handheld, perfect for users who connect their Alpha devices to in-car navigation units like the Drive Track or any of the Tread series. The Alpha 200 Plus upgrades the Alpha 200 handheld with the enhanced battery life of the Alpha 300 and more. The Instinct 3 series GPS watches are now more rugged, feature an AMOLED version, and offer improved battery life.

Garmin has truly listened to its customers with the Alpha XL. For years, many users have wished for a larger-screen Alpha handheld or the ability to use the training features from the Drive Track. The new Alpha XL delivers just that: a 10” touchscreen that includes all the training and tracking features of other Alpha handhelds. It can also work as a standalone handheld, allowing dog collars to be paired directly with it—no longer requiring an Alpha handheld to relay information to your in-car navigation system. This will be a game-changer for those who frequently jump in and out of a vehicle while running hounds. Now, you won’t need to reconnect your Alpha to the in-car system, and you can send training commands directly from the navigation system. The Alpha XL is compatible with all current tracking collars: T5X, T20, TT15X, and T25 collars.

The new Alpha 200 Plus handheld addresses some of the key pain points many experienced with the Alpha 200 handheld, particularly battery life. The Alpha 200 Plus combines features of the Alpha 200 and Alpha 300, bringing key hardware improvements from the Alpha 300 into the Alpha 200 body and screen. With an impressive 55-hour battery life—up from the 20 hours of the original Alpha 200—this upgrade also promises better battery performance when not in use. Additionally, the charging port has been updated to the more modern USB-C, which is compatible with the Alpha 300’s charger. The Alpha 200 Plus handheld is compatible with all the latest Garmin tracking collars, including the TT25, T20, TT15X, T5X, TT15, TT15 Mini, T5, TT10, and T5 Mini collars.

Garmin has also released a new line of Instinct 3 watches, available in both AMOLED and Solar versions, in 45mm and 50mm case sizes. The Instinct 3 series is more rugged than ever, with all models now built to MIL-STD-810 for thermal and shock resistance, and they are water-rated to 100 meters—standards previously only found in the Instinct 2 Tactical model. Additionally, the built-in flashlight is now featured in every model. The AMOLED versions come with a 1.3” bright, colorful screen, making them the first in the Instinct series to feature a colored display. The Solar versions of the Instinct 3 have received a significant upgrade with a new, higher-efficiency solar lens, increasing battery life by five times compared to the Instinct 2 Solar models. The Instinct 3 watches can also pair with any Garmin Alpha handheld for dog tracking updates directly on your wrist.

    Conclusion

Garmin continues to innovate in the GPS handheld, in-car navigation systems, and GPS smartwatch sectors.
