Are the Garmin TT25 collars compatible with the older Alpha handhelds?
Yes, the TT25 is compatible with the Alpha 100, Alpha 10, Alpha 200/Alpha 200i, and the Alpha 300/Alpha 300i. They are also compatible with the Garmin PRO 550 Plus and Astro 430 handhelds.
Is the Garmin TT25 collars waterproof?
The TT25 collars are water resistant to 1 ATM, which is equivalent to a depth of 10 meters or 32 feet. This is suitable for splashes and exposure to rain, snow, and morning dew. Though you should be okay with your dog swimming through a creek or taking a dip in a pond, we don’t recommend prolonged swimming or repetitive swimming. It is important to inspect your collar for any damage that would comprise the water resistance before running the dog in any elements. This would include bite marks that penetrate into the body, damage to the power button, damage to the beacon lights or charging ports, or improper tightening or missing screws.
What is the max range of the TT25 collar?
The maximum advertised range of the TT25 collar is 9 miles. This is line of sight with no obstructions and in perfect weather. Maximum range can be affected by the model of handheld; style of antenna being used on both the handheld and the collar; terrain between the handheld and the collar; weather events like fog, rain, or snow; and tree cover.
What is the difference between the TT25 and TT15 collars?
The TT25 has several new features over the TT15 collars. The most obvious change is the body of the device; the TT25 is much smaller and more compact than the TT15 and TT15X collars. Another big change is the dynamic update rate of the TT25 collar, which allows the collar to intelligently change its update rate based on the dog’s movement to extend the battery life of the collar. The TT25 also has greatly improved battery life, now getting up to 68 hours on the standard battery and 168 hours on the extended life battery. For more on the difference between the TT25 and TT15 see our article, Garmin TT25 vs TT15 Series Collars.
What size dog collar strap does the TT25 use?
Unlike the TT15, TT15X, and the TT15 mini, the TT25 can use either the 3/4” or a 1” collar strap without any issues.
Does the TT25 collar have remote activated beacon lights?
Yes, the TT25 collars have remotely activated beacon lights that can be set to one of seven different LED colors. These collars can be set using an Alpha handheld and remotely turned on by a compatible handheld. The PRO 550 Plus can only turn the light on and off, you cannot select a color. In this case, it remembers the color selected and that will be the color that turns on until changed with an Alpha series handheld.
My dog has a small neck size, is there a smaller collar option?
With the release of the Garmin Zero Length Flex Band, we are now able to offer the TT25 Mini, which is the TT25 pre-outfitted with the Zero Length Flex Band, allowing the TT25 collar to fit smaller dog breeds. Best of all, the smaller Zero Length Flex Band has not been shown to decrease the effective range of the collar.
